Most of the pictures on my websites are taken by myself. I don't consider myself a professional photographer by any means but I dabble in taking pictures for this website, posterity and printing. I have 2 film SLRs and 1 digital SLR and a digital camera. Since the advent of the digital camera or digicam, I find myself using those exclusively. Digital cameras have gotten so good that I don't fool around with film any more. Too many times have I taken in a roll of film to have it botched by the so called professional film developers. It got so bad that I was considering purchasing my own developing equipment and setting up a dark room. That was, until the digicam revolution. Now I have few problems and those problems are easily rectified with computer software or simply repeating the shot. For a light weight throw and go, I use the Olympus D550. It takes good pics suitable for the web and small printed photos. For great low light, low noise, high quality large printed pictures, I use the Pentax *ist DS. Since my previous film cameras were the Pentax K1000 and P330t I have lots of lenses, filters and a couple flashes that can be used with the ist. Most of my pictures are taken free hand but occasionally I use a tripod. For a tripod I use a Cullmann Titan Professional CT100. For a Head I use the Bogen Manfrotto 322RC2 ball mount. I believe the CT100 and the 322RC2 to be the perfect combination of features and quality for still photo photography. I have had great success purchasing my cameras and equipment from Adorama and I recommend them. |
