PREFACE: In these pages you will find helpful information on PC technical
issues. This site is not intended to be all inclusive. The purpose
of this site is to provide basic understanding and to share some of my lessons leaned. FORWARD: Today's
PC is a system. As with any system, all of these components have to
interact together. Obviously if they do not cooperate with each other, bad
things happen. In order to resolve these issues, basic troubleshooting
procedures can be employed. But before one can fault isolate, one has to
have a basic understanding of the system and how it works. While no
single part of this system is difficult, taken as a whole it can be
overwhelming. These pages have been organized to break out the system into
logical categories. These categories include Hardware, Software, Internet,
and Telephony. EXAMPLE: Suppose someone tells you that they
cannot receive an email from you. The source of the problem could be the
computer hardware, the computer software, the computer's connection to the
Internet (Telephony), or the Internet itself. Obviously more details about
the problem are required to know where to look. But how do you know what
questions to ask? Only from an understanding of how the system works can
one garner this knowledge. I hope you will find that knowledge in these
